This is a ghost story with a difference.

The story is told by Marianne's mother Margarita to her friend George and goes from when Rob and she met on the plane from London to San Francisco then married to when Marianne goes into a coma after a fall. It's in the coma Marianne meets a doctor named Robert but when she wakes no one knows anything about him and he is not on the Hospital Register. Night after night she meets him and they chat and in the morning it's found that no one has been to her private room. Put down to being just a dream things get even more mysterious as Marianne starts to dream within he own dream about a life outside the Hospital so vivid it seems so real.

Finally Marianne comes around from one dream after another to find that some of the images were true but still very baffling.
